The Paton-Churdan basketball teams are giving Rocket fans plenty to boast about. The boys are 9-2 overall and 9-1 in the Rolling Valley Activities Conference, and the girls are 7-4 overall and 7-3 in the Rolling Valley.
Both teams won Thursday night on a long road trip to Charter Oak to play the Bobcats of Charter Oak-Ute.
The girls won 45-35. Kasey Lane led the Rockets in scoring with 11 points and Reilly Niles and Grace Geisler both scored 10 points.
Carleigh Paup was held to nine points for the game. She will be honored at half-time of the home game tonight (Jan. 16) for hitting the 1,000 points mark last week.
Sydney Koch added five points to the total.
The boys topped the Bobcats 58-45 with hot shooting by Jake Carey and Noah Juergensen. Carey scored 22 points, including sinking three 3-point shots. Juergensen scored 21. Colton Fitzpatrick scored seven points with one 3-pointer and Trevor Bundt and Dylan Burgart both scored four points.
